Nice Green Lawn! Water properly is key!
For Lush Lawn water regulary every day!

For a lush green lawn: You simply need three things,

1. regular watering (make sure sprinkler heads are adjusted properly and you have proper double overlap with each head according to Rainbird recommended settings. Think about aerating in Spring and fall time

2. Sun (make sure you cut back branches that provide too much shade for the lawn that are blocking the sun to the lawn and or other hedges or bushes overhanging lawn..cut them back from edges of lawn to allow grass to grow properly

3. Nutrients (make sure to fertilize every two months) around 4 times a season at least. Think about using organic fertilizer. Not only is organic fertilizer safe for children or dogs, it is also environmentally friendly. An additional benefit of organic fertilizer is it generally doesn’t burn the lawn if you don’t put water on it right away, and you can apply a generous amount with good effect. For even better results consider using supplemental fertilizers to get an even greener lawn such as ironite, lime, and revive. They will help troubled lawns bounce back quicker.

  • If you have troubled spots on the lawn: First diagnose the problem…. are you watering enough? 20-25 min per zone for spray heads for the turf lawn… (every day they should be watering), every day early morning or late evening while its still dark so the water doesn’t evaporate as quickly from the lawn… for drip system zones allow for half as much water that your lawn gets typically 10-15 min per zone if watering turf for 20-25 min. Have you fertilized yet? Have you tried supplemental fertilizers on top of normal fertilizer?

    bare spots can be caused:

  • 1. check the sprinkler heads, make sure they are adjusted properly, and no damaged or broken sprinkler heads..

  • 2. check and see if there is rabbits in the area or pine needles from a near by tree…rabbit poop and pine needles can cause the lawn’s soil to be too acidic causing the effected areas to die.

  • 3. check and see if there are near by shrubs and trees that are blocking the lawn from sun….cut back any lower branches of trees or shrubs or hedges that are obstructing the sun

  • 4. if problems were from rabbits, fertilizer burns, or acidic pine needles solution is to scrape half inch layer of soil off the effected areas and put potting soil with seed down on areas as long as the water is getting there the grass seed should germinate in 2-3 weeks of regular watering
